About Word-Search.org

Word-Search.org is a free online word search run by a small independent team of word game makers. The site has been online since 2022 with one simple aim: a clean word search that opens instantly in any browser, on any device, without an account or a download. We are not a publisher and not the inventor of the puzzle, which goes back to the late 1960s; you can read that story on our history of the word search page.

In October 2026 we rebuilt the site and the game from scratch. Finding words works the way it always did, and returning players keep their statistics and their dark-mode and timer settings. Almost everything around it is new:

• A daily puzzle and 30 themes

  A new themed puzzle every day with an archive, and 30 themes, each with its own page and full word list.

• 19 languages

  The game now speaks 19 languages, and each one has its own word lists built from everyday words in that language.

• Print and make

  Printable puzzles with an answer key, and a maker for puzzles with your own words, shared by link.

• A new look

  A fresh design shared with our other games, a dark theme, high-contrast colors, statistics you can actually see, two-step hints and a short tutorial for new players.

We also adjusted the four levels so that each one is a clear step up from the last, from six words on easy to twenty on expert.

Every grid is built by our own generator. It places the words in straight lines in the directions allowed for the level, lets words cross where they share a letter, fills the remaining squares with letters that are common in that language, and rejects any grid in which a listed word could be found twice. The classic levels draw from a list of everyday words; the themes use curated lists of words that a typical player knows. Offensive words are kept out of the lists. If you spot a word that should not be there, or a mistake in any language, please tell us.

Word-Search.org is free and has no paid tier. The servers and the work are paid for by advertising shown around the game, never inside the grid. Our privacy policy explains which ad and analytics services we use and what they do. Your game progress and statistics are stored only in your own browser.
