DMCA policy

How to report material on this site that you believe infringes your copyright.

Our policy

Word-Search.org respects the intellectual property of others and expects the same from anyone who uses the site. If you believe that material on the site infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act for, you can send us a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, as described below. We review every complete notice and remove or disable access to material that we find to be infringing.

How to send a notice

Send copyright notices through our contact form, with "DMCA notice" in the subject field. Enter an email address in the form so that we can reply to you. Please write in English and include everything listed below; incomplete notices may delay our response. You can attach screenshots that show the material you are reporting.

What a notice must include

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or as a person authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed or, if several works are covered by one notice, a representative list of them.
  3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to find it, such as the exact page URL and a description of the material on that page.
  4. Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Please note that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation that material is infringing may be liable for damages. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, consider getting legal advice first.

Counter-notices

If material you provided was removed and you believe this was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice through the same form. It must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
  3. a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

When we receive a valid counter-notice, we may forward it to the person who sent the original notice and, unless they inform us that they have filed a court action, restore the material within the time frame set out in the DMCA.

Puzzles made by visitors

The site has no user accounts and does not host uploads. Puzzles made with the word search maker are stored only in their share links, not on our server, so we cannot edit or delete them; if a shared puzzle concerns you, contact the person who sent you the link. Notices will therefore usually concern our own content, and we will act on every valid one.
