Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit Word-Search.org (the "site", "we", "us") and play its word search games, who collects it and what choices you have. In short:

• There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or other personal details in order to play.
• Your game progress, statistics and settings are stored in your own browser and are not sent to us.
• Google Analytics loads on every page to measure how the site is used.
• Ads are served by Google AdSense and Ezoic, whose partners may use cookies and similar technologies.
• If you use the contact form, we receive what you type and any screenshots you attach, and use them only to deal with your message.

The game saves its data in your browser's local storage on the device you play on. This includes your unfinished puzzles, your statistics (games played and completed, times, hints and daily streaks for each language, mode and level), your settings (such as dark theme, high-contrast colors, timer and language), whether you have seen the tutorial and whether you dismissed the language suggestion. If you played before October 2026, the game reads the data saved by the previous version once, to carry over your statistics and settings.

This data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers, it is not linked to your identity, and we cannot see or restore it. You can delete it at any time by clearing the site data for word-search.org in your browser settings; doing so resets your statistics and streaks.

Puzzles made with the word search maker are stored in the share link itself, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to our server, and we do not store maker puzzles anywhere. Anyone who has the link can see the words in it.

We use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-WW4XXNFQ9P), a service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they use and how the games are played. The Google Analytics script loads on every page of the site.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, the time of your visit, the referring page, your browser and device type, screen size, language and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We also send a few game events, such as starting or finishing a game, using a hint, sharing, printing, generating a puzzle in the maker and completing the tutorial, together with the language, mode, level and theme. These events never include the words in a puzzle or the words you type into the maker.

We use these reports in aggregate to improve the games and the site, not to identify individual visitors. To stop Google Analytics from collecting data in your browser on all websites, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser settings.

The site is funded by ads. Ads are delivered by Google AdSense and by Ezoic Inc. ("Ezoic") and their advertising partners. Ads appear around the game and in the page content, never inside the puzzle grid.

Google AdSense

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and you can opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu. Ezoic

This site uses the services of Ezoic, including to manage third-party interest-based advertising. Ezoic may use a variety of technologies on this site, including tools to serve content, display advertisements and enable advertising to visitors, which may use first-party and third-party cookies. Ezoic and its partners may place cookies, tags, beacons, pixels and similar technologies to monitor interactions with advertisements and optimize ad targeting. Disabling cookies may limit access to some content and features, and rejecting cookies does not remove advertisements; it results in non-personalized ads.

When personalized ads are served, the following information may be collected, used and stored in a cookie:

• IP address
• operating system type and version
• device type
• language preferences
• web browser type
• email address, in a hashed or encrypted form

Ezoic and its partners may combine this data with information collected independently to deliver targeted ads across platforms and websites. Ezoic's partners may also gather additional data, such as unique IDs, advertising IDs, geolocation data, usage data, device information, traffic data, referral sources and interactions between users and websites or advertisements, to create audience segments for targeted advertising across different devices, browsers and apps. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use the opt-out tools linked above for Google Analytics and for personalized advertising. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the site shows a consent banner from Ezoic's consent platform (Gatekeeper) before personalized ads are served. The choices you make there apply to advertising; they do not switch off Google Analytics, which loads on every page. You can change your choices later by clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser, which makes the banner appear again on your next visit. If you block or clear local storage for this site, the game cannot remember your progress, statistics and settings.

If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive what you type into it: the message, the optional subject and, if you enter one, your email address, together with any screenshots you choose to attach. A small anti-spam check runs in your browser before the message is sent. We use your message only to answer you and to fix the problem you reported, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we delete the correspondence on request.

Like almost every website, our web server records basic technical information about each request, such as the IP address, the date and time, the page requested and the browser's user agent. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, are kept for a limited time and are not used for advertising.

We do not sell personal information ourselves, and we do not pass on anything beyond what the services described above collect directly from your browser. Under some US state privacy laws, the use of advertising cookies by our ad partners may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information; you can limit it with the opt-out tools linked above and with your browser settings. Google, Ezoic and their partners may process data in the United States and other countries. When you use a share button, the site opens the chosen service (for example Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram or Reddit) with a prepared message; what happens next is governed by that service's own privacy policy. The same applies to links to our other games and other external sites.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not keep accounts or profiles, most of the data related to your visit is held by your browser or by the third-party services named above. You can exercise your choices through the opt-out tools linked on this page and your browser settings, and you can send us any request through the contact form. We will answer within the time required by the law that applies to you.

Word search is a puzzle for all ages, and our pages for parents and teachers suggest ways to use it with children. The site does not ask anyone, child or adult, for personal information in order to play, and the games store their data only on the device. The site does show ads from third parties, as described above, so we recommend that younger children use it with an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

The site is served only over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but because we do not run accounts or store game data on our servers, there is very little personal information for us to protect in the first place.

We may update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
