Human body word search

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, and a lot more. This theme names the parts of the body you can see, from eyebrow and eyelash to knuckle, ankle and heel, and the organs inside that keep us going: heart, lungs, brain, liver and kidney.

A few facts for curious players: an adult skeleton has 206 bones, while a newborn baby has more, because some bones fuse together as we grow. The longest bone is the thigh bone, the femur. The largest organ is the one on the outside, the skin. And a resting heart beats roughly 100,000 times a day.

Body words are among the first that young children learn, and the puzzle pairs nicely with a game of pointing: after finding a word, touch that part of your own body. In a science class, students can split the list into parts we can see and parts hidden inside us.

Play tip: four words begin with EYE: EYEBROW, EYELASH, EYELID and EYEBALL. When you find E-Y-E in the grid, check how it continues before you drag, because the same three letters can lead to any of them.

An adult has 206 bones. Babies are born with more, but many of them fuse together during childhood.
